All in a day's work

Giving CPR to a heart attack victim who was foaming at the mouth may have been off-putting but Airwise officer Dave Lewis didn’t think twice about resuscitating an elderly man who collapsed outside Auckland International Airport.

“I knew he would die if I didn’t do something immediately, so I just got stuck in,” says Dave.

Before long, paramedics arrived and took over saving the man, who survived.  Airwise Officer Teri Sonny was also a great help, keeping onlookers back from the scene.

Before joining Armourguard, Dave was a St John’s paramedic for 20 years so he has been in this situation before.  “In some ways it was all in a day’s work but I still felt a real buzz knowing that I’d helped to save someone’s life”.

Auckland Airport was so impressed with Dave’s efforts that it’s Chief Executive held a special reception for him and another airport staff member.
