Without a hitch
Logistical challenges are no problem when Armourguard provides static guard, mobile patrol and cash in transit services for New Zealand’s only V8 Supercar round – the ITM400. The event, which is held in Hamilton, is New Zealand’s largest sporting event.
The three-day event is hugely popular, attracting around 160,000 people. The city’s accommodation gets booked solid, with latecomers having to stay as far away as Pukekohe, Rotorua and Tauranga.
In all, up to 140 Armourguard personnel are on duty during the day and 35 at night. Their responsibilities include meeting and greeting visitors, manning the gates, ticket checking and managing road closures.
They also patrol the entire racetrack to ensure there is no graffiti, damage or unauthorised access.
The 3.4 kilometre street race track passes through central Hamilton, which presents a wide range of additional security challenges, yet the Armourguard team’s professionalism and vigilance means that security at the event runs without a hitch.
