Manukau City may have New Zealand’s second-highest number of noise control callouts but then it is this country’s third largest – and fastest growing - city.
Armourguard has provided noise control services to Manukau City Council since 2003. Noise complaints rise by around 10 percent a year, with the council handling around 11,000 in 2009.
Armourguard has worked in partnership to develop a direct interface with Manukau City’s call centre and to automate dispatch to the officers in the field. This speeds up the process for sending noise control officers out on the job, and it also enables Armourguard to provide the council with detailed reports and statistics on all aspects of attending to noise complaints.
The reports enable the council to determine noise control ‘hot spots’, identify repeat offenders and to develop appropriate response strategies. The reports also enable the council to monitor Armourguard’s noise control activities.
Armourguard’s noise control work is about more than simply asking someone to be quieter. The team’s objective is to reduce noise complaints within Manukau City by working in partnership with the council to raise resident’s awareness of noise issues and to reduce repeat offending.
