Hard work and information sharing pay off

A mix of hard work and good information sharing between Armourguard and the Police saw Wellington Patrolman Martin (Marty) Wickham score an arrest jackpot that resulted in him becoming the New Zealand Security Association’s 2009 Security Officer of the Year.

A fortnightly meeting with the Lower Hutt Police advises Armourguard about problem areas, and vehicles and people of interest.  This information is then passed on to our patrol team such as Marty.

It did not take long after the Police advised of a spate of industrial property burglaries in Marty’s patrol area, for him to help nab 13 burglary suspects during three separate incidents.

Marty says that many years’ experience in the security industry has given him a good gut sense of when something is wrong: “I have learnt that if something does not feel right, then chances are that something is amiss.”

He is modest about catching so many criminal suspects in such a short time but admits that it always feels good to help the Police catch people who are up to no good!
